Hamburger Macaroni

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • Pinch of red chili powder flakes
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (28 ounce)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Instructions:
  1. Cook the pasta according to directions, drain, and set aside
    1. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water
  2. Add the olive oil to a large skillet and put on medium-high heat
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and brown
  4. When the beef is almost done, drain the fat and add the chopped onion
  5. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the onion is soft
  6. Add the celery seed, pinch of red pepper flakes, and seasoned salt and mix well.
  7. Add the chopped tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce and stir to combine, then simmer for 5 minutes
  8. Mix in the pasta and parsley and cook for another 5 minutes
    1. If the dish is too dry, add some or all of the pasta water
  9. Season to taste with freshly ground pepper and salt

Notes:

You can make this with ground beef or ground turkey.
